A former member of the playing and coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona is in the running for the hotseat at Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad.

That’s according to journalist Matteo Moretto, who points towards Xavi Hernández as the individual in question.

Tactician Xavi currently finds himself out of work.

In fact, the ex-midfielder has not taken his place on the bench at any club since being sent on his way by Barcelona over 12 months ago.

This comes despite links with a whole host of clubs across Spain and beyond.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Sunday is anything to go by, then Xavi’s return to football could soon be on the cards, in the Middle East.

As per a report from Matteo Moretto:

‘Xavi is one of the options for the Al-Ittihad bench. Ongoing conversations between the parties, and there are other candidates in the running.’
