It is no secret that Barcelona have not been the same so far this season, and the first three match-days serve as testament to the same, as the team has not been half as dominant in the league.

All of Barcelona’s first three games saw dubious results, albeit to different degrees. In the first, they played against just nine men for the better part of the game, while the second game saw them have to pull off a comeback from 2-0 down.

In the most recent game, Barcelona took home a 1-1 draw after a disappointing performance, and Hansi Flick is understandably furious with the team’s sloppiness and lack of motivation.

Rivaldo’s thoughts

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, Barcelona legend Rivaldo opened up on the team’s performance so far in La Liga and how they have indeed not been as good as many expected them to be.

“The first three matches were tough, and despite earning seven points out of a possible nine, the performance hasn’t convinced some fans,” he said via SPORT.

“However, I believe the team is strong and a contender to win the competitions it’s participating in.”

While the Brazilian legend did indeed accept the fact that the Catalans can improve a lot, he did retain faith in the players to pick up form in the coming weeks and come good.

“The season is still in its early stages, and with the start of major competitions like the Champions League, the scene will change. Barcelona is accustomed to pressure and criticism, and I don’t see that as a problem.”

As reported earlier today, Hansi Flick has demanded that his players introspect and return after the break, and it is clear that he has made his feelings clear to the dressing room. The coming weeks will be crucial if there is to be an awakening.
