In a short time at FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick has endeared himself to the club administration and fans alike, having turned the team’s fortunes around after a difficult last season.

Under the German, the Blaugrana have already won the Spanish Super Cup and are sitting at the top of the table in La Liga while being in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Upon joining Barça last summer, the 60-year-old tactician signed a two-year contract with the club until 2026.

Barcelona could be Flick’s last job

Now, according to journalist Miguel Rico (h/t FCB World), people in Flick’s inner circles strongly believe that Barcelona will be his last managerial role.

As has already been reported, Barça president Joan Laporta and director Deco’s biggest wish is for Flick to extend his contract, at least by another year, keeping him at the club until 2027.

“We are also very happy with the work that is being done and if everything continues like this, we will work to keep it going for many years. From here, the time will come, but it is not a priority now for us or for him,” Deco had said on the matter last month.

With the club still competing for La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League titles, the former Bayern Munich and Germany manager has complete control over his future.

Talking about a potential renewal back in January, Flick had said: “I haven’t thought about it. Things happen very quickly in Barcelona. I feel very good. I want to work at Barça, I have a year and a half on my contract. Now I have to focus on coaching.”

Family remains Flick’s top priority, a sentiment he has openly expressed, especially after his wife Silke’s battle with breast cancer.

At the same time, though, he is currently fully committed to Barcelona, exceeding even Laporta’s expectations since his appointment last summer. The players, meanwhile, are also fully behind the German tactician’s philosophy.

For now, Flick remains fully focused on the ongoing season and does not want any distractions.
