Barcelona make a move for Ghanaian player: Full details!
Barcelona have reportedly made a unique offer to Ghanaian Abdul Azziz Issah to return to the club on a new deal after missing out on a loan spell at Barca Atletic, even though he is only 19 years old.
When Azziz arrived on loan from Dreams FC last summer, few could have predicted his challenging European introduction. Despite an impressive Ghana Premier League record - 61 appearances, 12 goals, and 4 assists - the young attacker found himself largely confined to the sidelines, managing just 26 minutes across two substitute appearances under manager Albert Sanchez.
Yet 2024 has brought a remarkable turnaround for the former Ghana U-20 international. In May, his perseverance caught the eye of Black Stars coach Otto Addo, who rewarded Azziz with both a senior call-up and 30 minutes of action in Ghana's dominant 4-0 friendly victory against Trinidad & Tobago.
This international debut marks a significant milestone in Azziz's journey - from struggling for minutes abroad to representing his nation on the global stage. His story serves as testament to the unpredictable nature of football development, where patience and persistence can transform fringe players into national team prospects overnight.
As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on where this promising attacker lands next - and whether his international breakthrough can catalyze the club career his talent deserves.
Although Barcelona have given no indication that there is an option to buy the Ghanaian player, he is expected to have a good time with Barcelona, even if on loan, given that last season he played for his country in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, making four appearances and scoring once.
