Barcelona make Nicolás Otamendi transfer call | OneFootball

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have made a definitive call on a potential move for Benfica star Nicolás Otamendi.

This comes amid confirmation that the Blaugrana will not be tabling an offer for the Argentine in January.

The name of veteran stopper Otamendi has emerged as a prominent one in the transfer chatter in Catalunya’s capital over recent weeks.

As much comes after it was suggested that Barca could launch a cut-price move for the 37-year-old, following the long-term injury suffered by Andreas Christensen.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest word on the situation to have surfaced early this week is anything to go by, then no such proposal is under consideration.

As per a report from Diario Sport, citing CNN Portugal:

‘FC Barcelona has not been interested at any time in Benfica’s Argentine centre-back. There have been no contacts, no offer, and no intention of any movement in that direction.’
