The board at La Liga giants Barcelona intend to keep hold of transfer-linked attacker Ferran Torres through next season and beyond.
This comes amid the understanding that, contrary to recent media claims, the plan of the Blaugrana is to renew the expiring contract terms of the 26-year-old.
Ferran has of course seen his name dominate the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last week. After word was forthcoming that European champions Paris Saint-Germain had set their sights firmly on the Spanish international, the Camp Nou brass were tipped to sanction a sale.
Ferran’s current contract is due to expire next summer, and Barca would be forced to fork over a considerable sum to Manchester City in the case of a renewal.
As alluded to above, though, Ferran evidently nevertheless remains part of the long-term planning in Hansi Flick’s squad.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘Barça remain committed to renewing Ferran Torres’ contract. The Valencian’s current deal expires in 2027, but the club want to wait until September to offer him an extension. This is solely a matter of Financial Fair Play regulations.’
