Barcelona midfielder backs teammate to win the Ballon d’Or in the future | OneFootball

In a candid one-on-one conversation with Adri Contreras, Barcelona playmaker Dani Olmo has offered some interesting takes.

The former RB Leipzig star made a bold prediction about the next Ballon d’Or winner while he was also asked to predict the winner of this season’s Champions League.

Olmo’s key predictions for 2025

Olmo, who is coming on the back of a tense few weeks where his contract registration was on the line.

But thanks to a strong fight from Barcelona, the club were able to secure a precautionary measure from the Higher Council for Sports – a verdict that caused quite a stir in Spanish football.

Throughout this period, though, Olmo was extremely patient and made it clear he wanted to continue at Barcelona.

Therefore, it will surprise very few that Olmo predicted Barcelona to reach this season’s Champions League final. But what’s more interesting is that he chose Liverpool to be Barcelona’s opponent in the final.

“My prediction for the Champions League final? Barcelona vs. Liverpool,” the Spanish international said.

The player then went on to heap praise on his teammate Lamine Yamal, backing the youngster to win the Ballon d’Or.

“Lamine Yamal will win all the Ballon d’Ors he wants to win,” said Olmo, who has played a key role in forming Barcelona’s creative force, alongside Raphinha and Yamal himself.

If Olmo continues to deliver at Barcelona, one would expect Yamal to significantly improve his productivity in the final third and ultimately make a strong push for next season’s Ballon d’Or title.

Olmo is certainly not the only one to back Yamal to win the Ballon d’Or in the near future. But whether or not the Spaniard can live up to the lofty expectations remains to be seen.
