Barcelona are reportedly tracking Algerian international Ibrahim Maza at the 2025 African Cup of Nations (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
The 20-year-old has been in scintillating form for Algeria, scoring in the 3-0 win against Sudan. He also produced a solid display in the 1-0 win against Burkina Faso.
Bayer Leverkusen paid Hertha Berlin €12 million for Maza last summer, and he has made a significant impact this season.
He has netted four goals and three assists in all competitions and garnered wider attention for his impressive displays in the Champions League against Manchester City and Newcastle United.
Maza ranks highly among the elite dribblers and creative passers in Europe. His shooting prowess makes him a dangerous outlet in the attacking third.
The Algerian prospect has been pivotal behind Leverkusen’s resurgence under Kasper Hjulmand.
Maza’s stock could skyrocket if he continues his fine form with Algeria. He will be next in action against DR Congo in the round of 16.
Barca are currently stacked with quality attacking midfield options such as Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez.
However, they will not pass up a chance to sign a top-quality talent such as Maza, given Olmo’s injury struggles and lack of consistency.
Barca’s priority will be adding a centre-back and a striker next summer.
Nottingham Forest’s Murillo, Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, and Levante’s Karl Etta Eyong are among their targets.
