Barcelona have had a relatively productive summer so far, especially when it comes to player that have been moved on. They’ve managed to sell Ansu Fati and Inaki Pena permanently, while a loan agreement is in place for Marc-Andre ter Stegen to join Ajax for the 2026-27 season, which when completed, will represent another good saving.
However, Barcelona have yet to bring in a significant transfer fee, with the €11m they received from Fati’s move to AS Monaco being the highest at this stage. There are chances for this to be eclipsed in the coming weeks, and one player that has been on the agenda for the sale is Marc Casado.
Hansi Flick has made it clear that he does not count on Casado for the 2026-27 season, given that he will be behind Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Marc Bernal and even Eric Garcia in the midfield pecking order. Barcelona have been ready to sell the 22-year-old, but as per Sport, they are no longer as desperate as they were a few weeks ago.
Casado has been linked with numerous players over the course of the last few weeks, but crucially, none of them made a serious move to sign him. Barcelona had hoped to get an exit sorted by the end of last month as it would have allowed them to include it in last season’s financial records, but given that they missed out, their stance is much more relaxed now.
This has also led to them upping Casado’s asking price. Previously, it was reported that €20m would be enough for Barcelona to sell, but now the latest is that it would take around €30m, which if received would be a very handy amount for the Catalans, especially as it would represent pure profit due to the midfielder being a La Masia graduate.
