In recent days, Barcelona fans have not hidden their desire to see Marc-Andre ter Stegen leave the club this summer.
The fans have started an online campaign, urging Barcelona to sell the German international, who they believe has become a liability in the team.
This has put Barcelona in a precarious situation, especially as they look to also bring in Espanyol’s rising star Joan Garcia this summer.
Amid the uncertainty, a recent report from MARCA has offered a fresh perspective on Ter Stegen’s future.
The report suggests Barcelona have no immediate plans to sell Ter Stegen. Their plan, in fact, is to continue with the German international and Wojciech Szczesny next season.
This largely stems from the fact that Ter Stegen is one of the highest earners at the club, with an annual package of around €20 million in total.

Barcelona, therefore, are aware that it will be unrealistic to expect any club to match such an offer for a goalkeeper aged 33 who is coming on the back of yet another long injury layoff.
Ter Stegen has three more years left on his contract at Barcelona, but given the paucity of suitors and the player’s high wages, a potential exit would be unrealistic this summer.
Therefore, it won’t be surprising to see Ter Stegen continue at Barcelona and even serve as the club’s number one in between the sticks next season, ahead of Szczesny.
In the midst of all this, Barcelona have a plan in place for Joan Garcia as well, should the Espanyol star choose to join the club.
The Catalans plan to immediately loan Garcia back to a top-tier club so that he can continue to gain regular game-time, before potentially returning as a long-term replacement for Ter Stegen.
