Barcelona not pursuing deal for 26-year-old AC Milan superstar – Romano | OneFootball

Earlier today, reports emerged in Italy claiming that FC Barcelona had been offered a chance to sign AC Milan and Portugal forward Rafael Leao.

The 26-year-old winger has had some issues with Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri this season, and with the Rossoneri looking to restructure their squad, it was suggested that they were open to selling Leao.

As such, the Portuguese international was said to have been offered to several top clubs across Europe, including Barcelona. The report further said that he could be available for a fee of only €50 million.

Nothing between Barcelona, Milan, and Leao

However, providing an update on the situation, Fabrizio Romano reports that at this point, Barcelona are simply not pursuing a deal for Rafael Leao.

The Italian transfer expert clarifies that the Blaugrana are not in talks with the Portuguese international or his agents, while they have not approached Milan to explore the possibility of a move either.

It is true that Leao’s name has been put forth on Barcelona’s table in several years, but that was always done by agents, and not AC Milan themselves. As things stand, the Serie A giants are not actively trying to sell their marquee attacker.

It is no secret that Leao is a player that Barcelona president-elect Joan Laporta admires. As such, his signing had been explored in the recent past, especially when the Catalans missed out on Nico Williams in the past couple of summers.

However, nothing came of it, and now even though there are stories of him being offered to Barça floating around, there is simply nothing going on between Barcelona, Leao, and AC Milan at this point.

The Blaugrana, for now, are still assessing whether or not to pull the trigger on Marcus Rashford’s €30 million purchase option.

If they decide against that, Deco & co. would ideally prefer to sign a younger player with potential to improve to reinforce the left flank.
