Although the January transfer window is just around the corner, Barcelona are planning ahead for the summer of 2025, knowing the club won’t be able to make too many moves in January.

Barcelona have already made a key decision of not to sell any new players in the winter transfer window, as finding replacements could prove to be difficult.

That being said, one player whose future still remains uncertain heading into January is Ansu Fati.

Barcelona open to a free exit of Fati

A recent report from SPORT does confirm that no one will leave in January unless Fati brings forth an offer that could benefit the club economically.

For now, though, the attacker has no desire to leave Barcelona and is fighting for a place in the team. He recently skipped Christmas break in order to work on his fitness.

Moreover, Fati has not received any such offers which can not only add money to Barcelona’s coffers but also give the player the opportunity to gain more regular game-time.

The report adds that Barcelona are even open to selling Fati on a free transfer in the summer transfer window if that means the attacker’s contract until 2027 can be terminated.

It appears the club are indeed desperate to alleviate some of the pressure off their wage bill and Fati’s exit, to that end, could significantly help.

Should Fati leave on a free transfer, the option of him joining Saudi Arabia could be a real possibility next summer.

The former La Masia graduate, though, has attracted interest from several European clubs as well, including La Liga outfit Sevilla, among others.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see what the summer has in store for Fati, as he looks to revive his career.
