According to a fresh update from SPORT, Barcelona midfielder Oriol Romeu is now being tracked by multiple clubs, including Girona and Valencia, as he prepares for his exit this summer.

It is known that the 33-year-old is no longer in the plans of new manager Hansi Flick and will not travel with the team for their pre-season tour of Asia.

Instead of joining the squad abroad, Romeu will remain in Barcelona to focus on sorting out his future and negotiating the terms of a potential departure.

With his contract set to run until 2026, both the player and the club are reportedly aiming to reach a mutual agreement to terminate the deal.

However, discussions are ongoing about how much compensation the midfielder should receive for the remaining year of his contract.

Girona are one of the main clubs keeping a close eye on the situation after he played a key role there last season.

It is said that Girona manager Michel admires Romeu’s experience, leadership, and professionalism, both on and off the pitch. However, despite their interest, Girona are not prioritising a move for the midfielder at this time.

They will only consider his acquisition if the midfielder arrives on a free transfer.

Valencia have also entered the picture, especially after parting ways with Enzo Barrenechea. Romeu, who had a brief loan spell at Valencia during the 2013/14 season while on the books at Chelsea, is seen as a strong candidate to fill the gap in midfield.

Like Girona, Valencia are hopeful that Barcelona will terminate Romeu’s contract, which would allow them to bring him in as a free agent, a move that suits their financial limitations.

With Barça currently overloaded in midfield and Flick looking to reshape the squad, Romeu’s departure seems inevitable. Now, it is just a matter of when and where.
