There is still some time left till the next summer transfer window opens, but it seems like FC Barcelona are already finalizing their plans for this window, as they plan to strengthen their squad significantly for the next season.
The Catalans are looking for a new center-forward, a new center-back, and might also try to sign a fullback and a winger. However, to finance these moves, they will have to generate some money, and for this purpose, they are willing to sell some of their current players.
According to SPORT, the Blaugrana club has already marked two players for sale this summer, i.e., Ferran Torres and Marc Casado.
Ferran Torres’ situation is becoming clear. The forward, who has a contract until 2027, has not been offered a renewal, signaling the club’s assessment of his current role.
This season, he has faced a kind of final exam as a center-forward, receiving consistent playing time and responsibility, sometimes even more than Lewandowski. Yet, the club feels he has not fully met expectations.
The numbers do not help his case, with his last goal coming on January 31 against Elche. His sale next summer is seen as an attractive financial move, both for the income it could generate and the salary space it would free.
Marc Casado is the other player whose future remains uncertain. The midfielder has a contract until 2028 and has previously expressed loyalty to Barcelona. Last summer, a direct conversation with Hansi Flick confirmed his desire to stay, and the club recently revisited the topic of a renewal.
Despite this, interest from Atletico Madrid and other clubs remains strong. Reduced playing time could influence his decision, making his future one of the key pieces in Barça’s planning.
These departures fit directly into Deco’s strategy. The priority is signing a top-level number nine, while also extending Lewandowski’s contract with adjusted financial terms. The club also aims to reinforce the defense and bring in a young winger, with wage management a crucial consideration.
In this context, the exits of Ferran Torres and Marc Casado are not just financial decisions. They are central to unlocking Barça’s summer transfer strategy and shaping the squad for next season.
