Barcelona are quietly keeping a close eye on Luis Diaz, and recent developments suggest that the Colombian forward is now beginning to nudge Liverpool towards a decision.

It must be noted that Diaz is not just another name on Barcelona’s wishlist. He is a top target.

In recent days, reports from England have confirmed that Barcelona made an initial approach, but Liverpool rejected it straight away.

The English club is standing firm. They are in no mood to let him go unless a huge offer lands on the table. With his contract running until 2027, Liverpool hold the cards, but just for now.

Diaz breaks silence on future

During his time with the Colombian national team, Diaz opened up about his future, and it seems he is not ruling anything out. When asked about his next steps, he admitted,

“We are talking to clubs. It’s normal during the market. If Liverpool offer a good renewal or I stay for two more years, that’s fine. But now, the decision is up to them.”

That comment has not gone unnoticed in Barcelona. The club knows Diaz would be open to a change, but they are not going to pay the full €80 million that Liverpool are asking. Barça believe that time is on their side.

Barcelona waiting for the right moment

Barcelona understand Liverpool’s financial situation. The Reds have already spent €40 million on Jeremie Frimpong and are reportedly close to splashing a further €200 million on Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.

That level of spending could force Liverpool to consider offers for Diaz, especially if the player keeps pushing for a move.

For now, Barcelona are playing the waiting game, hoping that Luis Diaz’s quiet pressure will open the door.
