Lamine Yamal may not have found the back of the net in Spain’s emphatic 6-0 victory, but the Barcelona youngster was once again a constant threat throughout the match.
The 18-year-old showcased his usual flair and confidence on the ball, troubling the Turkish defence in the World Cup qualifier.
However, the Barcelona winger’s evening did not end without drama of his own. After the final whistle, the winger experienced an unexpected setback when preparing to leave the Büyükşehir Belediye Stadium with the Spanish national team.
Having starred in the match, he was suddenly seen anxiously going through his belongings in search of an important document – his passport.
The unusual scene was caught on camera by Turkish outlet Beyaz Futbol, who filmed the teenager rummaging through his suitcase with a worried expression.
According to the report, the winger had misplaced his passport.
“He left the stadium without finding it,” explained Emir of Beyaz Futbol, who shared the exclusive video, showing Yamal stepping off the team bus still visibly troubled.
It was further noted that the Barcelona forward had already spent time inside the locker room searching for the missing documentation before rejoining his teammates.
Despite the light-hearted nature of the incident compared to the football itself, it quickly became a talking point in Turkey, given how unusual it is for such a high-profile player to be caught in that situation so publicly.
Fortunately for Spain, Yamal’s troubles off the pitch did not overshadow his performance on it. Even without scoring, his presence was instrumental in stretching the Turkish defence and creating opportunities for his teammates.
