Barcelona are actively working to secure Marcus Rashford, but the deal is currently stuck at a critical stage due to firm demands from Manchester United.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have already reached a broad agreement with Rashford regarding personal terms.

The England international is open to continuing at Camp Nou and is willing to fight for his place, even without guarantees of being a regular starter.

That level of commitment has made him an attractive option for the Catalan side, especially as they look to strengthen their attacking depth ahead of next season.

What’s the problem?

However, the real obstacle lies in negotiations between the two clubs.

Manchester United have made their position crystal clear that they expect Barcelona to trigger the €30 million buy option if they want to complete the transfer permanently.

There is little flexibility from the Premier League side at this point, with the club prepared to reintegrate Rashford into their squad or explore alternative transfer options if their valuation is not met.

Barcelona, on the other hand, are not willing to commit to that fee under the current financial conditions.

Instead, they are exploring alternative structures that could make the deal more manageable.

The alternative strategy

One of the main ideas being discussed internally is restructuring the agreement into another loan deal, potentially with revised terms or an obligation to buy at a later stage.

This approach would allow Barcelona to secure the player while maintaining financial stability and complying with La Liga’s strict regulations.

Despite these efforts, there has been no real progress in talks so far, as Manchester United are standing firm on their valuation and are not opening the door to creative solutions at this stage.

This has led to a complete deadlock in negotiations, even though the player himself is keen on staying in Spain.

For now, the deal remains in limbo. Unless one side shifts its stance, Barcelona may be forced to either meet the €30 million demand or walk away from a transfer that, on paper, makes perfect footballing sense.
