Although the season is well and truly underway, Barcelona remain focused on their core strategy of securing a long-term future for key individuals.
The club have already announced multiple contract extensions throughout the year, but it appears more renewals could be on the cards.
Recent reports have indicated that Barça, in fact, could be on the verge of a major breakthrough as far as the future of Marc Casado is concerned.
According to Catalunya Radio, Barcelona have an agreement in place with Casado surrounding the player’s new contract.
The youngster’s existing contract at Camp Nou expires in 2028, but the new deal should extend the length of the contract by at least another year.
But more importantly, the terms of the new deal will include a significant salary increase for Casado, who has quietly become a key midfield option for Hansi Flick.

Casado proved his mettle in the recent win over Valencia, producing a classy display in the middle of the park alongside Pedri.
Given his performance, Flick is facing a major selection dilemma in midfield, with Casado and Frenkie de Jong fighting for a place alongside Pedri in the double-pivot.
Nevertheless, the new deal should go a long way in ensuring Casado’s future at Barcelona, especially after speculation in the summer transfer window that linked him with a move away from the club.
The report suggests that the agreement had been reached in the summer itself, but was not announced due to the possibility that the player could leave on loan.
But with the transfer window closed, everything is aligned for Casado’s extension to be finalised.
However, this does not necessarily mean things will get easier for he, who still has to compete with the likes of De Jong, Gavi, and the returning Marc Bernal for a place in the starting eleven.
