The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona do not intend to afford a contract renewal offer to defensive star Andreas Christensen.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have this week provided the latest on the future of the Dane.

Stopper Christensen was for his part of course widely expected to depart Catalunya’s capital over the summer.

This came after Deco made clear that there was an overbooking at the heart of Hansi Flick’s defence.

In the end, however, it was Iñigo Martínez who made the call to depart, meaning Christensen was rather abruptly taken off the market.

The former Chelsea man has since gone on to play his part in two of Barcelona’s three La Liga outings this season, expected to play a prominent role over the course of the campaign.

As alluded to above, though, this as things stand looks unlikely to have an effect on Christensen’s contract situation.

As per a report from AS:

‘Andreas Christensen’s contract also expires in 2026, and although he’s expected to get several more opportunities this season if injuries persist, Deco doesn’t plan to offer him a renewal.’
