Barcelona have no doubts about Guille Fernandez’s potential and continue to view him as one of the academy’s most valuable assets.
Despite being only 17 years old, the midfielder is regarded as a player capable of making a significant impact in the years ahead.
That confidence is reflected in the club’s planning for the coming months.
As such, rather than rushing his development or allowing him to stagnate without minutes, Barcelona are preparing a pathway designed to maximise his growth, which means the immediate focus is on securing his future.
The youngster’s current contract runs until 2027, but according to Mundo Deportivo, the club is already working towards extending his stay.
The outlet mentions that before any decision is made regarding next season, Guille will be handed an opportunity to impress during pre-season with the first team.
The midfielder, who suffered a muscle injury last season, is expected to work under Hansi Flick throughout the summer, giving the German coach a close look at his qualities before finalising plans for the new campaign.
Furthermore, if Flick believes Guille is ready to contribute regularly within the first-team environment, he could remain with the senior squad and continue his progression at the club.
However, if the pathway to meaningful minutes appears limited, another solution is already being considered.

According to the report, Barcelona are open to sending the youngster out on loan, but only under specific conditions.
Unlike many loan deals where the destination itself becomes the priority, Barcelona’s primary concern would be ensuring that Guille plays regularly.
Simply put, the club values guaranteed playing time above the prestige of the team involved.
Whether the destination is a Premier League side, a competitive Championship club or a team in another European league, the key objective would remain the same: consistent football at a demanding level.
