According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona have received the green light from the Barcelona City Council to continue playing at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic until the season concludes.
However, the Blaugrana’s intention remains to return to Spotify Camp Nou before the curtains fall on the current season.
Barcelona’s initial plan was to be back at Camp Nou late in 2024, but with delays in construction, the deadline was moved, with the club extending their rental agreement at Montjuic until April.
However, concerts being scheduled at the Montjuic Stadium and continued delays at Camp Nou meant that Barça were considering playing the Clasico on May 11 at a major European Stadium.
But, once it was confirmed that The Rolling Stones would not be touring Europe in May and would not perform at Estadi Lluis Companys, Barcelona quickly requested an extension for the use of the stadium until the end of the season.

Now, the City Council has given the green light to the request, allowing the Blaugrana to continue playing at the stadium until May 30. Contracts are being drawn up to formalise the stadium rental extension.
Despite this development, Barcelona continue to work towards completing the season at Spotify Camp Nou, with a seating capacity of 60,000 spectators across the lower and upper tiers.
The construction company, Limak, has provided assurances that the ongoing works will enable the team to return before the season ends.
Furthermore, in order to accelerate the renovation works, Barcelona and the City Council are close to reaching an agreement that would allow construction work to take place 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This would help speed up the final stages of the renovation at the club’s iconic home ground.
