As has been reported already, FC Barcelona have made Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford a priority target for the ongoing winter transfer window.

The Blaugrana intend to sign the 27-year-old attacker on loan to further bolster their options on the left wing, with manager Hansi Flick giving his approval for the deal.

However, Barcelona are facing serious competition from German giants Borussia Dortmund in the race for Rashford and things could get even more complicated for the Catalans in the coming days.

Borussia Dortmund could push harder if Ten Hag becomes manager

However, as per SPORT, Barcelona cannot afford to be complacent in their pursuit of Rashford as his potential move could become much more complicated if the operation is delayed.

Barcelona plan to finalise the departure of Ansu Fati so that Rashford can take his place in the team. However, as long as the La Masia forward does not agree to leave, the Englishman’s arrival becomes increasingly difficult.

It could leave the door open for Borussia Dortmund, who believe Rashford could be the ideal player to help revitalise their project.

There is significant concern in Dortmund regarding the state of their team as they sit 10th in the Bundesliga. In fact, current manager Nuri Sahin’s position is unsafe, with ex-Man United boss Erik Ten Hag being identified as his potential replacement.

Sahin’s future will depend on the outcome of their Champions League match against Bologna on Tuesday. If they suffer another defeat, Dortmund could announce Ten Hag’s appointment as early as Wednesday.

Ten Hag previously managed Rashford at Manchester United, and he believes the 27-year-old would make a significant impact on the rest of the Dortmund squad, helping to lift their spirits.

Everything now comes down to whether Rashford is willing to wait for Barcelona until the final days of the window, as they look to create salary space, or if he opts for a move to Dortmund this week.
