Barcelona’s search for a new striker continues to gather momentum, and while Julian Alvarez remains the club’s preferred target, another world-class name is gaining attention.
According to SPORT, Barcelona are still considering Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane as a potential alternative should their pursuit of Alvarez ultimately prove unsuccessful.
The Catalan giants are actively working to strengthen the number nine position following the departure of Robert Lewandowski, making the signing of a top-level goalscorer one of the club’s biggest priorities this summer.
However, negotiations involving Alvarez remain extremely complicated due to Atletico Madrid’s position, forcing Barcelona to keep alternative options under consideration.
The aforementioned outlet reports that Barcelona have not removed Kane from their list despite the difficulties involved in any potential operation.

In fact, the England captain continues to be viewed as one of the few strikers capable of immediately replacing the goals, experience and leadership lost following Lewandowski’s exit.
In that context, David Bernabeu provided fresh insight into the situation and suggested that Kane’s name remains very much alive within Barcelona’s planning.
“They told me, word for word: ‘Let’s not take Kane off the list if the Julián deal doesn’t go through’, so let’s not rule him out,” he said.
The challenge, however, lies in dealing with Bayern Munich.
It is said that a previous release clause reportedly worth €65 million is no longer active, meaning any interested club would now have to negotiate directly with the German champions.

That significantly increases the complexity of the operation, with Bayern believed to value the striker at around €80 million or more.
That said, Bayern Munich have no desire to part ways with their star striker either, with the club’s honorary president Uli Hoeness recently addressing the rumours.
“FC Bayern is a buying club not a selling club. Barcelona have no money anyway,” he said.
Lastly, there has also been speculation suggesting Kane would not be interested in joining Barcelona.
However, according to the latest information, that belief may not be entirely accurate, with recent enquiries indicating the player would not automatically dismiss such a possibility.
