According to a report from Aleix Parise in Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have decided to move away from Florentino Perez’s idea of a Super League and work to strengthen their relationship with UEFA.
The report outlines that the club believes UEFA has taken their feedback seriously, making key changes such as adjusting the tournament format and increasing financial returns for participating clubs.
These actions have prompted Barcelona to abandon their previous push for the Super League.
For years, Barcelona had a tense relationship with UEFA, partly due to the club’s financial struggles and their strong support for the Super League project.
However, recent developments have improved ties significantly. The club now feels that UEFA is responding to clubs’ concerns, showing greater flexibility and willingness to value their opinions.
As a result, Barcelona no longer see the need to push for the breakaway competition, even though a ruling in favour of Super League promoters is expected soon.

The improved relationship is evident in several ways. Barcelona are now preparing to request an exception from UEFA to open Camp Nou with 45,000 spectators during the first round of the Champions League, allowing them to switch stadiums temporarily.
The club believes this would respect the spirit of UEFA regulations, as they would not gain any sporting or financial advantage.
Another sign of the closer ties was UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin’s presence at Lluis Companys Olympic, where he watched the match against PSG from the Montjuic box.
Barcelona sees this as a symbol of goodwill and mutual respect, highlighting the significant progress in relations between the club and Europe’s governing body.
By stepping back from the Super League idea, Barcelona are signalling a new era of cooperation with UEFA.
The club’s focus is now on building strong, constructive relationships while continuing to compete at the highest level in European football.
