Barcelona set to closely track 17-year-old ‘Mexican Pedri’ at the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup gets underway in a little while, and one of the most intriguing young players to watch is Gilberto Mora of Mexico.
The 17-year-old wonderkid is expected to be one of the youngsters that will attract a lot of attention during the course of the tournament.
In fact, according to SPORT, Barcelona will be closely tracking Mora’s performances at the World Cup this summer.
Barcelona’s sporting department, led by Deco, has been closely monitoring Mora’s development.

While there is no immediate move planned, reports on the teenager have been consistently positive, and the club views him as one of the most exciting emerging talents in North America.
Mora, is a right-footed midfielder known for his creativity, dribbling ability and eye for goal.
Despite his age, he has already become an important figure for the Mexico senior side, helping them win the Gold Cup and impressing at youth international level with performances that have highlighted both his maturity and quality.
Often compared to Pedri for his vision, intelligence and technical quality, the Club Tijuana teenager will be the youngest player at the tournament.

Indeed, at 17 years and 240 days old, Mora will be the youngest footballer at the 2026 World Cup.
Barcelona scouts admire Mora’s composure in tight spaces, technical security on the ball and competitive mentality.
The World Cup will provide the perfect stage to assess whether he can translate his domestic and youth-level promise onto football’s biggest stage.
Should Mora deliver on the international stage as he has in Liga MX, interest from Europe’s elite clubs is likely to intensify, with Real Madrid also keen.
