Barcelona will kick off their UEFA Champions League campaign this Thursday when they take on Premier League club Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
Having faltered at the semi-final stages of the competition last time around, Hansi Flick & co. are determined to go all the way this term and warmed up for the opener in style with a 6-0 thrashing of Valencia on Sunday.
Ahead of their trip to England this week, Mundo Deportivo now reports that Barcelona will take to the pitch at St. James’ Park in their new orange third kit for the first time this season.
The Blaugrana have yet to debut their away kit or the third kit in the 2025/26 season.
In their first two league matches against Mallorca and Levante, Barça were forced to wear their third kit from last season due to clashes in colours with their opponents.
The subsequent matches against Rayo Vallecano and Valencia saw the Catalans use their new home kit for the current campaign.

Now, though, they will finally get a chance to debut their third kit for the 2025/26 season when they step out at St. James’ Park to take on Newcastle United this Thursday night.
This will be Barça’s third visit to Newcastle for an official match. The first occasion ended with the Catalans losing 3-2 in the 1997/98 Champions League group stage, while they prevailed 2-0 in 2002/03. On both occasions, Barcelona played in their traditional blaugrana colours.
Meanwhile, the report also adds that Barça will remain in Newcastle until Friday to avoid a late journey back to Spain after the game on Thursday night.
The squad will train at Newcastle’s training ground on Friday morning (10:00 local time) before flying back to Barcelona.
Hansi Flick has insisted on this policy for European away fixtures since last season, ensuring players avoid long-haul night travel.
