While they have been enjoying great sporting success, FC Barcelona continue to struggle with their finances and will need to generate a significant amount of money before being able to make their desired signings in the upcoming summer transfer window.
As a result, some departures from the Catalan side are not ruled out for this upcoming transfer window. Meanwhile, in addition to sales, the Blaugranes can also earn a significant amount of money from some of their former players.
One of these players, who is now already confirmed to provide a significant boost to the Barcelona coffers this summer, is the French defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
The Frenchman is currently playing with the Premier League side West Ham United, on loan from OGC Nice. But, according to MARCA, he is now set to join the English side permanently, as there was a clause in his contract that made his signing mandatory after they confirmed their survival in the Premier League this past weekend.

This mandatory purchase will be activated with a stipulated fee of €42.5 million, and Barcelona are set to receive 20%, or €8.5 million, from this move as they had reserved a 20% share of any future fee paid for him in their contract with Nice in 2021.
Although he was able to play only 5 games in total for the Catalan club, the €1 million that the Blaugranes invested in his signing is proving to be quite a profitable deal in hindsight.
Barcelona have already received €1.5 million for his loan to Schalke, €2 million for a loan to Benfica, and €8.5 million fixed and another possible €7 million in variables from his move to Nice. Now, they are set to get another €8.5 million for Jean-Clair Todibo, and this money will definitely be welcome at the Catalan club in their current financial conditions.
