With plans for FC Barcelona’s first-team pre-season plans starting to take shape, manager Hansi Flick is expected to involve a number of youth prospects from La Masia.
After all, a number of senior players might not be available right away for the preparatory camp due to their involvement in the FIFA World Cup, opening the doors for youngsters to work under Flick and make an impression.
To that end, SPORT reports that Orian Goren is in line to be included in the first team’s pre-season tour squad, offering him a valuable opportunity to train alongside the senior players and showcase why many see him as a future star at the club.
Few prospects coming through La Masia are generating as much excitement as Goren. Widely regarded within Barcelona as one of the academy’s brightest talents, the 17-year-old midfield prospect continues to progress at an impressive rate.
Barcelona have enormous faith in Goren’s potential. His development in recent seasons has been steady and impressive, with coaches and academy staff believing he possesses many of the qualities traditionally associated with the club’s finest homegrown midfielders.
The Catalans view Goren as an important long-term investment, and the upcoming pre-season could provide the perfect platform for him to gain experience in a first-team environment.
Born in 2009, Goren joined Barcelona in 2022 from Israeli club Maccabi Petah Tikva after his family relocated to Catalonia.
An international at youth level for Israel, he has rapidly climbed through the academy ranks and established himself as one of the leading figures in his age group.
Goren’s style of play fits naturally into Barcelona’s footballing philosophy. He is a technically gifted midfielder with excellent game intelligence, strong positional awareness and an ability to combine effectively with teammates.
His understanding of the game has drawn comparisons to players such as Pedri and Andres Iniesta. Beyond his technical attributes, academy staff are particularly impressed by his maturity, competitive mentality and constant desire to improve.
Beyond pre-season with the first team, Barcelona are also considering promoting Goren to Barça Atletic next season.
