It has been clear since the past few seasons that FC Barcelona will not stop scouting promising young talents. While the club has its own fair share of homegrown players who are eager to prove themselves, certain profiles must be acquired. Fortunately for Barcelona, the football market offers a great variety.

Despite this, it is true that not all of Barça’s gambles on promising youth prospects have paid off as they would have liked. Brazilian striker Vitor Roque, for instance, was just recently transferred back to Brazil as South American side Palmeiras reached an agreement to sign him permanently.

However, the Catalan giants will look to continue keeping an eye out on promising young players whenever they can. Recently, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, yet another promising gem has managed to catch the club’s eye and they are reportedly now interested in the player.

The talent in question is none other than 16-year-old Georgian left-back Saba Kharebashvili. Undoubtedly a player who has already showcased a lot of promise, he currently represents Georgian side FC Dinamo Tbilisi and managed to make a UEFA record his own as well last season.

By featuring for the team last season in a UEFA cup competition, he became the youngest player to ever do so. However, while he is a prospect with a lot to give, he has attracted major European attention as well.

While Barcelona are reportedly interested in him, so are El Clasico rivals Real Madrid and Premier League side Liverpool. Both of the sides in question will likely also have a clear financial advantage over the Catalan giants if this player’s transfer saga were to become a more dragged out one.

However, Barcelona is clear about focusing on finding young talents that are not as well known as the most standout ones. This will likely help them avoid inflated transfer costs, but they will need to act quickly if they wish to ensure that such deals end up happening.
