Among the academy graduates who have made a place for themselves in the first team under Hansi Flick, there is the midfielder Marc Casado. The Spaniard remained an important player for the German coach during his first season in charge of FC Barcelona, but his prominence declined in the following season, as players like Gavi and Marc Bernal recovered from their injuries and returned to availability.
Things are not looking to get better for the midfielder going into the next season, as Flick has seven players available for the three midfield spots, and players like Pedri and Frenkie de Jong are expected to remain fixed starters.
As a result, the Catalan club has put Casado on sale this summer, and they are seeing him as a prime opportunity to obtain some much-needed funds. However, Barcelona are not going to let the midfielder leave for any sum, and, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, have set a price tag of €30-40 million on him. They believe this is a reasonable starting price for a player who is a La Masia graduate and who can continue to play at the highest level for a lot of years.
Casado’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is already looking for clubs for him, and is assessing his options from both economic and sporting perspectives. The former is important for Barcelona, while the latter is important for the player, who wants to continue his development and play in a competitive league at this point of his career.
Several Saudi clubs are currently negotiating for his signing. One of these is Al-Hilal, with whom Barcelona are also negotiating for Joao Cancelo. However, it would not be surprising to see Marc Casado choose to continue playing in Europe, as , including the likes of AC Milan.
