The future of Marcus Rashford is highly uncertain as he reaches the end of his loan period at FC Barcelona. The Catalans have a €30 million purchase option available, but they are yet to decide whether they should exercise this option.

In fact, some recent media reports claimed that this option had already expired in March. However, Mundo Deportivo claims that sources from within the Blaugrana club have categorically denied this being the case, and clarify that the purchase option will expire only in June.

Barcelona has already agreed on salary terms with Rashford, and an arrangement with Manchester United ensures the €30 million fee would be paid in three annual installments of €10 million.

The main hurdle remains fitting his salary within La Liga’s financial fair play regulations and justifying the investment through improved performances on the pitch.

Rashford’s prominence in Hansi Flick’s team has declined in recent months. He has not scored or assisted since January 31 against Elche, ending that match with his 10th goal of the season.

He has also contributed 11 assists so far. With Raphinha sidelined due to injury, Rashford is expected to play a more central role in Barcelona’s attack in the closing stages of the campaign.

This period is critical not only for Barcelona’s planning but also for Rashford’s personal ambitions. Ahead of the upcoming World Cup, where he aims to start under Thomas Tuchel, he must prove his value on the pitch to secure both his club future and a place in England’s starting lineup.
