Barcelona star Raphinha has revealed that he requested to be taken off during the 2nd-half in the club’s meeting with Atlético Madrid.

Wide-man Raphinha is for his part fresh off a Man of the Match performance on Tuesday evening.

After Barcelona welcomed in-form Atlético Madrid to Catalunya’s capital for a crunch La Liga clash, the Brazilian was afforded his 2nd start in succession.

And Raphinha went on to fully justify his inclusion, drawing Hansi Flick’s troops level en route to an eventual 3-1 triumph.

A little over 15 minutes from time, though, with the game on a knife-edge and Barca leading by just a solitary goal, the former Leeds United man was hauled off.

And Raphinha has since confirmed that as much came at his direct request.

Speaking to the media following the full-time whistle at the Spotify Camp Nou, the 28-year-old explained:

“I was tired and asked for the sub. I think Pedri did too.”
