Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has confirmed that he talked through the merits of a Blaugrana switch with Athletic Club counterpart and close friend Nico Williams this summer.
The name of wide-man Nico of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital once more earlier this summer.
As much came after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that Barcelona had reactivated their efforts to bring the 22-year-old in from Athletic.
Just when it appeared as though the transfer was a sure thing, however, Nico, out of the blue, pulled the plug on the operation.
The attacker, instead, made the call to put pen to paper on a lucrative long-term contract extension in Bilbao.
This week, Nico linked back up with his fellow countrymen at international level, after being called up by Spain boss Luis de la Fuente for an upcoming World Cup qualifying double-header.
As much meant joining forces with a number of Barcelona stars, most notably friend Lamine Yamal.
Speaking during an exchange with the media over the last 24 hours, Lamine was therefore asked if he put time aside to discuss a Camp Nou switch with Nico during the recent saga.
And the 18-year-old went on to admit:
“Yes, I spoke with him, but in the end I told him it’s his career. I’m too young to tell someone what they should do. The important thing is that he enjoys himself and is happy wherever he is.”
