Barcelona starlet Fermín López secured his place in an altogether undesirable two-man club during the Blaugrana’s latest outing.

Barcelona of course marked their return to action on Sunday night, making the trip to Sevilla for a La Liga clash.

When all was said and done, the Catalans emerged triumphant, closing the gap on table-topping Real Madrid to just two points courtesy of a dominant 4-1 result.

Amongst the goals on the evening was the aforementioned Fermín López, who, after being introduced off the bench at half-time, made an immediate impact courtesy of a fine header.

A short time later, however, the 21-year-old was given his marching orders for a dangerous challenge in midfield.

And, owing to as much, Fermín joined former teammate Vitor Roque as a holder of an unwanted Barcelona record.

As per statisticians Opta:

‘Fermín López is the second Barcelona substitute to score and be sent off in the same La Liga game in the entire 21st century, after Vitor Roque against Alavés in February 2024.’
