Barcelona star Lamine Yamal shows class with message to Ballon d’Or winner Dembélé | OneFootball

Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal on Tuesday showcased class and humility of a player far beyond his years.

This came by way of a message of congratulations to Paris Saint-Germain counterpart Ousmane Dembélé.

The names of attacking pair Lamine and Dembélé of course took their place centre stage in the headlines across world football yesterday evening.

As much came after the bidding for the 2025 Ballon d’Or came down to the two long-term favourites for the award.

In the end, despite numerous reports across the day pointing towards an altogether different outcome, it was Dembélé who was named world football’s standout performer for the last 12 months.

Lamine, just 18, was no doubt left disappointed with the outcome, fresh off a spectacular year in the colours of Spain and Barcelona alike.

As alluded to above, though, this did not stop the youngster from sending a personal message to the man who beat him to football’s most prestigious individual accolade.

Taking to his official Instagram account on Tuesday, Lamine wrote:

‘God’s plan is perfect, you have to climb to get to the top. Happy for the Kopa Trophy x2 and congratulations to Dembele for the award and his great season.”
