A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona set a Champions League season benchmark in the club’s most recent outing.
The player in question? Pau Cubarsí.
Stopper Cubarsí was for his part in from the off once more on Wednesday, as Barcelona welcomed Paris Saint-Germain to Catalunya’s capital for a highly-anticipated clash.
When all was said and done, the young Spaniard and his teammates found themselves condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline.
Not only that, but Cubarsí was singled out for heavy criticism for his role in PSG’s crucial first-half equaliser.
As alluded to above, though, the 18-year-old nevertheless managed to secure for himself a new benchmark in Europe’s top-tier competition in 2025/26.
As revealed by statisticians WhoScored:
‘Pau Cubarsí made two tackles as the last man against PSG last night, a record in a single Champions League game this season.’
