FC Barcelona are once again going to have representation in the World Cup 2026 final as up to eight of their players qualified for the ultimate game of the biggest international tournament in the sport. In the semi-final, the Spaniards defeated France in a highly demanding game, with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro giving them a 2-0 win.
One day after qualifying for the final, Spain have already started training for the final game, as Luis de la Fuente held his first training session at the Red Bull New York training grounds in New Jersey.
As Diario AS has reported, one striking feature of this session was the absence of two players, Lamine Yamal and Pedro Porro, who were unable to train with the rest of their teammates.
However, there is nothing of concern regarding the duo, and this is only a precaution taken by the coach of the Spanish team. In his press conference after the game against France, de la Fuente had confirmed that the Barcelona winger was fine. However, he must have been feeling the impact of all the kicks and tackles he faced in the last game, and his coach wants him to be completely fresh for the final match.
On the other hand, about the fullback, de la Fuente revealed that he was suffering from muscle tightness in his press conference. Both of these players are expected to be ready and available for the game against Argentina.
There were no other surprises in the Spanish national team training session held on Thursday. Lamine Yamal, along with his Barcelona teammates like Dani Olmo and Pau Cubarsi are expected to start the final against Argentina for Spain. Pedri has not been starting the last few games, while Ferran Torres has also been a regular substitute. Other players like Gavi, Eric Garcia, and Joan Garcia, have not played a very prominent role for Spain so far, and are not expected to do so in the final either.
