Barcelona star on the verge of Atlético switch | OneFootball

An out-of-favour member of the defensive ranks at Barcelona is closing on an imminent departure for La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing journalist Rubén Uría, who points towards Clément Lenglet as the player in question.

Stopper Lenglet of course spent this past season out on loan away from Barcelona, with the aforementioned Atlético.

And after a shaky start to life with Diego Simeone’s side, the Frenchman over the course of the campaign developed into an important player in Spain’s capital.

In turn, the brass at the Metropolitano have long made clear their hopes of bringing Lenglet back for next season and beyond.

The problem for a Barcelona outfit eager to bring in much-needed funds through their out-of-favour defender’s sale, however, is that their La Liga rivals do not intend to pay any kind of fee for Lenglet.

Negotiations, in turn, were recently kicked into gear between club and player, over a potential contract termination.

And if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then as much now appears to be on the verge of completion.

As per MD:

‘According to Rubén Uría’s Twitch program, his contract termination is close to being finalized. Thus, Lenglet would be part of Atlético de Madrid’s defense next season.’
