Despite being one of the most important players for FC Barcelona in the last two seasons, the Brazilian winger Raphinha’s future at the Blaugrana club has been questioned in these last two summers as well.
The winger continues to enjoy interest from Saudi sides, as they want to make him another of the biggest stars in world football to come and play in their budding league. This summer, these links have been particularly strong, and it would be hard for anyone to rule out a transfer at this point in time.
Al-Hilal has been the one Saudi side that has been linked with him the most strongly, and some recent reports from Brazil even claimed that the Brazilian would start negotiating with this club after the end of the World Cup. Despite their efforts to clear up other rumors of his personal financial and injury problems, neither Raphinha nor his wife has denied these reports.
In such a context, SPORT notes that even if he was considering it, the Al-Hilal option is also getting complicated for the Barcelona star, as the Saudi side has moved to sign Mohammed Salah as another star attacker.
The Egyptian is currently a free-agent, after having finished his contract with Liverpool, and is being offered the same terms as Raphinha, i.e., three years contract with annual wages of €20 million. If they end up agreeing terms with Salah, the Brazilian would no longer remain an option for Al-Hilal.
For now, Raphinha is fully focused on his recovery, and is undertaking up to three sessions per day to be ready and available for Brazil in case they reach the quarter-finals of the competition. He also did not travel with the rest of the team for the third group stage match against Scotland to Miami, and hopefully, he would be able to solve all of his problems before that time, and return to Barcelona for another memorable season.
