Barcelona star responds to news of Nico Williams’ rejection | OneFootball

Barcelona star Marc Bernal was on Friday drawn on the decision of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams to put pen to paper on fresh terms in Bilbao.

This, of course, comes after Barca had reignited their pursuit of the 22-year-old’s signature with a view to next season.

After being rejected by Nico at the last moment in the summer of 2024, Deco and co. have been forced to face up to a similar feeling late this week.

As much comes after the Spanish international, out of the blue, extended his contract with Athletic all the way through the summer of 2035.

During an appearance in front of the media this afternoon, it therefore came as little surprise when the same subject was put to a current member of Hansi Flick’s Barca squad, in Marc Bernal.

And the young midfielder showed wisdom beyond his years with his response, assuring:

“Nico is a great player, but it is something that does not concern me, I focus on my teammates. I congratulate Nico on his renewal.”
