Barcelona are set to be forced to make do without a headline member of the club’s defensive ranks in their meeting with Atlético Madrid next week.

Barca and Atlético are of course currently locked in action, on the continent.

In the first leg of a Champions League quarter-final tie, the former have welcomed Diego Simeone’s troops to Catalunya’s capital.

To this point in proceedings at the Spotify Camp Nou, though, it has proven to be an evening to forget for the hosts.

Atlético currently lead by a goal to nil, courtesy of a stunning free-kick from Julián Alvarez.

Not only that, but Barcelona find themselves a man down, after Pau Cubarsí was shown a straight red card for a last-man challenge.

The 19-year-old is therefore facing up to an incoming suspension on the continent.

As much will be served next week, when Barca and Atléti do battle once again, on this occasion at the Metropolitano.
