Barcelona star ruled out of Valencia meeting | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona will play no part in the club’s next outing.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point to Frenkie de Jong as the player in question.

Dutchman De Jong has for his part been dealing with a fitness complaint for the last week.

Forced into a premature departure from the Netherlands’ World Cup qualifying meeting with Poland, the former Ajax talent in turn made his way swiftly back to Barcelona.

From here, De Jong underwent a round of medical tests which confirmed a minor muscular injury.

The 28-year-old was on Thursday spotted back on the grass at the Ciutat Esportiva, giving rise to hope that he could yet recover in time to face Valencia this weekend.

As alluded to above, though, this will not be the case.

As per a report from Sport:

‘The Dutch midfielder is completely ruled out for the match (vs Valencia).’
