A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona secured for himself a noteworthy benchmark during his latest appearance on the international front.
The player in question? Lamine Yamal.
Wide-man Lamine was for his part in from the off once more on Sunday night, as Spain made the trip to Turkey for a World Cup qualifier.
And en route to an eventual 6-0 rout, the 18-year-old played a starring role.
Running rampant down the visitors’ right flank, Lamine terrorised the Turkish backline, courtesy of a trademark blend of touch, pace, vision, final ball, and dribbling.
And it was the latter of these traits which culminated in the Barcelona talent clinching a 2026 World Cup qualifying stage record.
As revealed by statisticians Sofascore in the aftermath of Sunday’s clash:
‘Lamine Yamal has tonight become the first player to complete more than 7 dribbles in one match of the 2026 UEFA World Cup qualifiers.’
