With the 2025-26 season approaching an end, the striker Robert Lewandowski has only a few days left to make a final decision about whether he wants to continue at FC Barcelona or look for a new club this summer.
The Polish striker will need to weigh up several factors before taking that call, with one of the most important being the stance of his head coach, Hansi Flick, whose opinion is expected to play a decisive role in the final outcome.
For this reason, Mundo Deportivo reports that a key meeting between Lewandowski and Flick is set to take place today, where the striker will look to understand whether he is still part of the coach’s plans and, if so, what kind of role he would have in the squad going forward.
At this stage, Lewandowski reportedly sees himself as 95% out of Barcelona, especially with his contract expiring and the club already exploring options in the market for a new number nine, with Julian Alvarez and Joao Pedro among the names being considered.
If Flick’s message is that his role would be even more reduced, the striker would take that as the clearest sign that it is time to move on, and in that case he would begin talks with the club to organise a farewell after Sunday’s match against Real Betis at Spotify Camp Nou, the final home game of the season and potentially his last appearance in front of the home fans.
Lewandowski, who already took part in the La Liga title celebrations earlier this week, is also evaluating several options for his next step, with three offers from Saudi Arabia, Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, and Al Qadsiah, alongside interest from Chicago Fire, although no immediate decision is expected on his next destination.
In his four seasons at Barcelona, with two league matches still to be played, Lewandowski has delivered impressive numbers, scoring 119 goals and providing 24 assists in 191 appearances, while also helping the club win three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups.
