Barcelona suspect mischief but remain unfazed by Real Madrid’s move for Julian Alvarez | OneFootball

Signing a new striker is one of the topmost priorities of FC Barcelona for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Blaugranes saw the Polish veteran Robert Lewandowski leave their team at the end of the 2025-26 season, and they now need to replace the Pole in their team for the next season.

For this role, the Catalans already have a clear option in mind, i.e., the Atletico Madrid center-forward Julian Alvarez, who is reportedly Deco’s favorite candidate in the market. However, signing him has not proved to be easy so far, with the Colchoneros not even considering the €100 million offer from Barcelona for the Argentine star and slamming them on their social media for this offer.

This operation is not going to become easy going forward, either, especially as Real Madrid have also entered the scene. Florentino Perez recently promised that he would make a €150 offer for a new Galáctico, and on Tuesday, the Merengue club officially revealed that an offer of this sum had been made to Atlético Madrid for Alvarez, which was rejected by the Mattress Makers.

There are concerns at Barcelona that this move from Real Madrid could have a latent aim, i.e., that of creating confusion to keep them from getting the Argentine star. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugranes remain unfazed by this move from Los Vikingos, and their roadmap for getting Alvarez has not changed.

As things stand, the Catalans are expecting a long operation, a kind of a chess match against Atletico Madrid, for getting the forward, and the player himself might have to make a move at some point if he wants to realize his dream of playing for Barcelona.

For now, the Blaugranes have not even considered increasing their bid for Julian Alvarez, as they understand that they still have quite a long summer lying ahead of them, and Real Madrid’s move for the Argentine has not changed their plans regarding him.
