It has been almost three weeks since Barcelona midfielder Gavi was sidelined with a knee injury, just before the game against Rayo Vallecano.
The initial assessment was that it was only discomfort and that the 21-year-old gem would be back soon, but as it turned out, the situation was more serious than anticipated.
The fact that the injury has happened to the same knee that Gavi injured and was operated on back in 2023 has served to complicate matters further.
Despite the option of another surgery being considered, Barça have opted to stick with conservative treatment for now.
Providing an update on the situation, Marta Ramon of RAC1 reports that Barcelona will make a decision on Gavi’s next course of treatment in the early parts of next week.
The club officials had met with the player’s family and agents recently to assess his condition and opted to continue with conservative treatment.

It was decided that they will meet soon again to reassess the situation and see his progress before making the big decision.
Now, it appears that the decision about whether Gavi will continue on the current treatment or undergo surgery will be made early next week.
If the current course of treatment has shown enough progress, Barcelona are likely to continue with it.
But in case it has stagnated, the surgery route could be chosen, which would sideline the midfielder for another five weeks.
The aim had been for him to be back after the October international break, but surgery would postpone that return date.
A key player in Hansi Flick’s setup, Gavi’s prolonged absence will be a blow, but it is important for the player and the club to not rush things and ensure that his knee has fully healed before he returns.
