Barcelona are two matches from activating a €2.5m payment to Sevilla linked to Jules Kounde’s starts, according to Diario AS.
The clause pays €2.5m per season whenever the defender starts 60% of Barcelona’s games, and it is closing in again this term despite his current injury. It has already been met in each of his three previous campaigns at Spotify Camp Nou.
Kounde has been ever-present this season, though his form has dipped compared with 2024-25, when Barcelona won a domestic treble.
The payment would be timely for Sevilla, who are battling financial issues, and should arrive once the France international returns and the threshold is met.
The agreement would deliver another €2.5m if he reaches 60% again next season, and it runs for the length of his original contract to summer 2027, signed following his 2022 move.
Barcelona’s finances have improved since 2022-23, when they asked Robert Lewandowski to stop scoring to avoid a €2.5m payment to Bayern Munich. Even so, the outlay is not ideal as they close in on a return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule.
