Nico Williams’ contract renewal with Athletic Club has not halted FC Barcelona’s activity in the summer transfer market. A
The Catalan club’s number one target remains Liverpool speedster Luis Diaz. The Colombian winger has always been Deco’s top priority – even ahead of Nico.
After the sudden breakdown of the Nico deal, Diaz has emerged again as the preferred option for the La Liga champions.
Now, according to journalist Helena Condis on COPE, Diaz has a verbal agreement with Liverpool to leave for around €82 million this summer.
The 28-year-old attacker has a contract with the Premier League champions that runs until the summer of 2027. So far, there has been no progress on renewal talks.

Diaz himself has hinted on a couple of occasions that his future remains open at the moment, suggesting that an exit could be a possibility.
However, as per the report, Barcelona are not prepared to match the €82 million price tag to secure Luis Diaz’s release from Liverpool.
The Blaugrana have the Colombian international at the top of their wishlist at the moment, but are not in a position to spend so heavily on his signing.
So, it remains to be seen how the La Liga champions approach the situation. For now, they are understood to be taking things slow, as they do not wish to approach Liverpool at a difficult time following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
If a move is unfeasible, Barcelona have other alternatives, one of whom happens to be Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford.
