FC Barcelona clinched the 2025-26 La Liga title last night after defeating Real Madrid 2-0 at the Spotify Camp Nou. Keeping in view the history of the rivalry between the two clubs and the chance of wrapping up the league, there is no doubt that this was a particularly special game for the Blaugrana players.
However, still there are some players for whom this game could turn out to be even more memorable. One such player is the Polish forward Robert Lewandowski, who has only a few days left on his contract with Barcelona, and thus, this could have been his last El Clasico and La Liga campaign with the Catalan club.
As SPORT has reported, the Pole talked to the Polish media outlet Eleven Sports after the game, and commented on his future. The forward did not rule out to move away from Barcelona:
“There could be an option in a lower league. I’m almost 38 years old, but I feel physically good, so I’m considering it. I have to take into account the possibility that it might be the right time to play and enjoy life. Maybe that option will come up, and I’m not ruling it out.”
For now, the Polish veteran clarified that he has not yet made any decision:
“What will I do in the autumn? I don’t know. I’ve just found out that I have 51 days left on my contract, so I still have time. I’ll listen to a few more offers and then decide.”
Lewandowski also expressed pride on having won so many league titles:
“I’ve won a total of 14 league titles. I’ve won them at every club I’ve played for, which impresses me a lot and makes me proud.”
Lastly, he also commented on the advice Wojciech Szczesny recently gave him for his future:
“You know what Wojtek is like — today he says one thing, tomorrow he’ll say another. It’s not like I wake up in the morning and something hurts. I appreciate where I am, and I’m enjoying it. We’ll see what happens, but one thing is clear: I’m going to keep playing.”
This season, Robert Lewandowski has seen his role in Hansi Flick’s team getting significantly subdued, and it remains to be seen what decision he and Barcelona would make about his future.
