Lewandowski was among the first new signings when Xavi took charge of Barcelona, and he expressed his gratitude for the support he received during his early months at the club.

Praising Xavi’s efforts

The forward emphasised how Xavi’s guidance helped him settle in both on and off the pitch.

“He was a very important person for me when I came to Barcelona, during the first few months and also afterwards. I played against him as a player, and then he became my coach.

“I tried to help him and saw that he had something special to be a great coach. What he did for the club during that difficult time was a great job.

“Sometimes people don’t think about this, but I think he loves the club. It’s also thanks to him that Barça is what it is today,” Lewandowski said, underlining Xavi’s legacy and dedication to the club.

A gesture of gratitude

It is also worth recalling that Lewandowski was one of the players who sent an emotional message to Xavi when it was announced he would no longer be in charge of the Barça bench.

This gesture highlighted the mutual respect and admiration built during their two seasons together at the club.

Lewandowski’s reflections not only shed light on his own journey at the Camp Nou but also reinforce Xavi’s enduring influence on the club, demonstrating how strong relationships between players and coaches can leave a lasting legacy.
